What type of Vacation Bible School does your church run?
It’s that time of year again! Our church’s VBS starts this Sunday. I am curious as to what other churches do for VBS. Do you do it during the day or at night? Does it run for several days, or is it just a one-day event? Let me know by voting in the poll below.
Ours runs Sunday night through Wednesday night. In the past I have done VBS during the day and as a one-day event. Feel free to discuss any unique ideas your church incorporates into their VBS. Next week I plan on writing another post on the legitimacy of VBS, so be sure to check back later for that!

My church has classes Sunday through Wednesday nights for both kids and adults, and on Thursday nights we have a big party. We invite the parents/families of all the kids who have attended during the week, serve dinner (we grill hot dogs on our big grill that was purchases just for this), and then we have dessert. After dessert, each class shares a little bit about what they learned during the week and they perform a song. Then the prizes are awarded for “most visitors” and stuff like that, and then we have a carnival for the kids to win prizes.
We have a really great turnout on Thursday night of both members AND visitors/parents. It is a great way for them to get to know us outside of the church setting. We’ve had several families visit and or place membership because of our VBS, and it has also resulted in several conversions.
The most important thing is involvement, because it takes a LOT of people to make this happen.
